How it works
Read the book
The EPUB is opened in your browser and its chapters are read in the order the book defines.
Keep the text
Headings and paragraphs are separated by blank lines and line breaks are kept. Images, scripts and styles are dropped.
Save it
Download one UTF-8 .txt file, or a ZIP with one file per chapter named "001 Title.txt".
Limits
- Only DRM-free EPUB files work. Protected books are refused.
- Images, tables and layout are not text, so they are left out or flattened.
- Footnote markers stay as plain numbers in the text.
- Very large files can fail on phones, which have less memory.
FAQ
Is this EPUB to TXT converter free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no account.
Is my EPUB uploaded?
No. Your browser opens and converts the EPUB on your computer. The file is not sent to our server or anywhere else.
Does it work with DRM-protected EPUBs?
No. If an EPUB is protected with DRM, the tool says so and stops. It does not remove DRM. Font obfuscation, which only scrambles embedded fonts, is not DRM and is fine.
Which files and sizes work?
EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 files. Large books work on a computer.
Can I get one file per chapter?
Yes. Tick "One TXT file per chapter" to get a ZIP with numbered files, one per chapter.
Only convert files you have the right to use. This tool works on files you already have; it does not download books and does not remove DRM.
