Welcome to TofuToon (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy informs you how we look after your personal data when you visit our website or use our browser extension, and tells you about your privacy rights.

We may collect, use, store, and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data: Includes first name, last name, username, or similar identifier.
  • Contact Data: Includes email address.
  • Transaction Data: Includes details about payments to and from you and other details of “Energy” or credits you have purchased from us. Note: We do not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors.
  • Technical Data: Includes internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting, and operating system.
  • Usage Data: Includes information about how you use our website, extensions, and services.
03How We Use Your Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • To provide our Service: To process the images or text you submit for translation using our AI and OCR technologies.
  • To process payments: To manage your account credits (“Energy”) and verify purchases via our Merchant of Record.
  • For legitimate interests: To improve our AI models, detect fraud, and ensure the security of our extension.
  • To comply with a legal obligation.
04Disclosure of Your Personal Data

We may share your data with the following third parties strictly to provide our services:

  • AI Service Providers: To provide translation features, the text or images you select are processed by third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Google Cloud Vision). These providers are not permitted to use your data for training their models unless explicitly stated.

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorized way.

06App/Extension privacy policy

Certain TofuToon applications or extensions may require specific permissions or handle data differently to perform their unique functions. By using these specific products, you agree to the additional terms below:

A. Chrome Extensions (General)

For any browser extension developed by TofuToon:

  • Single Purpose: Our extensions are designed to perform specific tasks (e.g., reading enhancement, content management) and do not bundle unrelated functionality.
  • Browsing History: We do not track, collect, or sell your browsing history. Permissions to access web pages are used strictly to perform the extension’s stated function on the active tab.

B. MangaBook (MangaBook - 3D Manga Reader & Webtoon Viewer)

  • Google User Data: Access to your Google Profile (Name, Email, Avatar) is used solely for authentication and to synchronize your virtual “Energy” balance across devices.
  • Content Scanning: This extension requires permission to read data on web pages (host_permissions) solely to detect and extract image content for the “3D Reader” mode. This process happens locally or temporarily on our optimization servers. We do not store the content of the pages you visit.
