Adam voice (ElevenLabs): which Adam is which, and where to use it

Adam is a deep male American voice in the ElevenLabs library, used so widely in story videos and shorts that ElevenLabs calls it one of the most recognizable voices online.

Which Adam is which

• “Adam - American, Dark and Tough”, voice ID `IRHApOXLvnW57QJPQH2P`. This is the voice featured on ElevenLabs’ Adam page when we checked on September 30, 2026.
• The older default Adam, voice ID `pNInz6obpgDQGcFmaJgB`. Many tutorials and code samples still reference this ID.
• Community voices with Adam in the name, such as “Adam - Compelling”, “Adam Stone”, and “Adam - Calm and Composed”.

If you need to match a specific video, ask for the voice ID rather than the name.

Where Adam works well

Adam suits short, punchy narration: story shorts, trailers, and dramatic intros. Over an hour-long audiobook, a very dark delivery can tire listeners, so compare it with a calmer narrator on a full chapter before you commit.

Adam in Tofu Voice

The ElevenLabs edition of Tofu Voice ships “Adam - American, Dark and Tough” with the same voice ID as the ElevenLabs page, plus four other English Adam voices: Compelling (US), Adam Stone (UK), Calm and Composed (Canada), and Adam Faris (Singapore). It does not include the older `pNInz6obpgDQGcFmaJgB` voice.
